Alternatives is a charity based in Newham offering free pregnancy testing and a confidential environment where anyone with a unintended pregnancy can be helped to reach a decision and where their right to choose is respected at all times.

Shine runs five young people's contraceptive and sexual health clinics in Newham. They provide young people with:

  • Advice and information on sexual health and relationships

  • Contraception and emergency contraception

  • Pregnancy testing

  • You Test (Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing)

  • Counselling or one to one support

  • Abortion information and referral

NHS Go  is a confidential health advice and information service for 16-25 year olds.

The Greenway Centre and GP surgeries can provide a full STI screening service, but other places offer screening for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.

Those aged between 16-24 can get screened by:

  • Going to a Shine clinic (Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea only)

  • Going to the Checkurself website and ordering a FREE postal Chlamydia test kit or calling the local screening office on 020 8821 0837 to find your nearest You test venue

  • Going to the Greenway Centre at NUHT (all STIs)

  • Going to their GP (all STIs)

  • Going to certain pharmacies that have a specially trained chlamydia screening pharmacist

  • Going to the East Ham Connexions Ypod or by collecting a FREE Chlamydia test kit from any Connexions shop

Those aged 25+ can get screened by:

  • Going to the Greenway Centre, Newham General Hospital, Glen Road, Plaistow, E13 8SL

  • Going to their GP
